100% Passing Rate Achieved, with 23 Students Scoring Full Marks on the International Chinese Proficiency Assessment.
We are delighted to share the outstanding achievements of our Mandarin Immersion Pathway students at EtonHouse International School Broadrick in the May 2024 Youth Chinese Test (YCT). This international standardised Chinese language test, developed by Hanban—the same organisation behind the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK)—evaluates young foreign students’ abilities to use Chinese in both daily and academic settings. We are incredibly proud to report that all our students passed, with 23 achieving full marks. These exceptional results are a testament to the students’ dedication and the effectiveness of our Mandarin Immersion Pathway.
EtonHouse Broadrick was the first international school in Singapore to introduce a bilingual education programme in English and Mandarin in the primary years back in 2011. Since then, our Mandarin Immersion Pathway has grown to become one of the country’s most comprehensive and successful bilingual education offerings. Our students consistently excel in the YCT while maintaining strong academic performance in Mathematics and English, comparable to their peers in the Integrated Curriculum Pathway. This consistent excellence has been recognised over the years, most recently with the Best Language Programme (Gold) award at the HoneyKids Singapore Education Awards 2023.
Aligned with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), the Mandarin Immersion Pathway is accessible to children from non-Mandarin-speaking families. The programme offers intensive Mandarin exposure in Year 1 to build a strong language foundation, followed by a balanced 50:50 bilingual immersion from Year 2 to 6.
